Porcelain Veneers
If you have chipped, cracked, misaligned or discoloured front teeth, then porcelain veneers may be for you. Veneers are a fantastic way to improve your smile and protect the underlying teeth. Many of our patients enjoy the benefits of veneers and wish that they had chosen this treatment sooner!
Porcelain veneers are thin shell-like pieces of porcelain that are carefully crafted, by a Dental Technician, to fit perfectly over the front surfaces of your teeth. These are bonded into place to mask the underlying concerns.
During the preparation you will be involved in the design of your veneer/s, we will explain the process in detail and you will be aware of the outcome to expect.
The procedure itself involves:
- The preparation of your underlying tooth structure
- Upper and lower impressions or moulds of your teeth
- Shade selection using a digital spectrophotometer and intra-oral camera
- Placement of a temporary veneer
After approximately 2 weeks, your veneer will be ready for placement. During this appointment we will:
- Remove the temporary veneer
- Clean the underlying tooth surface, then etch this surface
- Clean and etch the veneer
- Permanently bond the veneer to your tooth
